These Days

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
-I Peter 4:12-13

The Whole Aim

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
-Dumbledore

As most people know I am an HP fan. I basically want to be Harry Potter, basically. Nonetheless Dumbledore has provided us with some extremely useful information today. I find it extremely foolish to forget to live, as I often do. It's so easy to get into the groove of things and forget that you're actually living a life full of wonder and beauty.

But as it is now the time that life is starting to happen again, both in the weather and just in general, I'm hoping it will be much easier to "live". It just makes me love this time of year even more because it's not quite summer. It's the same as winter, just happier and excessively warmer. Thus, better.

Also, the weather gives you actual hope that you'll be able to get a tan soon (not really for me, but you get the gist).

Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence
-Aristotle

As most of you may know, one of my life aspirations is to be a witty individual. Aside from this my other one is to be happy. Yes, i know that I'm a cliche person, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to be happy.

I think it's a pretty good life plan to try to be happy, and wise.

p.s. i feel it's worth noting I've worn both sandals and my blue trench this week.

Drinking the Wild Air

Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is sunny, and therefore I am happy. I have had enough of this clouds and snow stuff, it's about time the sun made its appearance.

.......

.......

As much as I love winter, I am ready for spring and the beach. I am ready to break out my powder blue trench and drink the wild air. I want to experience the life and rebirth that spring brings.

Just living is not enough... One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.

Strange Flowers

What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you dreamed? And what if, in your dream, you went to heaven and plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if, when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?”
-Samuel Taylor Coleridge

............

............

What would happen if you did wake up with a flower in your hand from a dream? I suppose you do every morning when you wake up, life is a beautiful flower plucked from heaven. Yes, life can be strange, but it has so many more opportunities to be beautiful.

Even dreams themselves can be beautiful. I think it's so cool that our brains can dream, whether we're awake or not. It's that crazy phenomenon of the unconscious that helps us to process the innate desires of our heart. It is so fascinating on how the events of our conscious lives transfer over into our unconscious lives, like the strange yet beautiful flower.

May As Well Enjoy the Scenery

Optimist: A man who gets treed by a lion but enjoys the scenery.
-Walter Winchell

I say, lets be optimists today. The only day we have is today, may as well be a good one. If you're a pessimist then things are just gray and ugly. But if you force yourself enough the sky can turn blue. Even if the sky is pretty nasty looking, may as well enjoy the scenery.

I've recently decided that i need to read more books. Good books though. Not this pop-culture crap that comes out these days. I want the real stuff, the real literature that's changed lives.

I feel like that i would at least be a bit more well rounded as an individual. I feel like my horizons are the size of a shoebox. I want them to at least be the size of a refrigerator box. And i feel as though books can help me to expand the walls of knowledge within my shoebox.

So today, lets be knowledgeable optimists. God gives us only one day, and that day is today. But i suppose it's better said than done.

Bisy Backson

I can't believe it's already february. I think that, that is absolutely ridiculous. Where did january go? Time flies.

But when you actually sit, breathe, and reflect, you realize that a month has flown past didn't really fly by. You act, you cry, you laugh, you listen, you learn, you talk. It's so interesting to think, even just for a day, at how many times you got angry over silly things or how many peals of laughter occurred that one night. It's very interesting and fascinating.

“Where you are going is more important than how fast you are going”

...........

............

I feel as though, as human beings, we try to be busy. The tao of pooh. Great book, bisy backson chapter is exactly what i'm talking about. We think it will add to the resume we're building or get us into the college of our dreams to be busy and stressed. And yes, being busy helps with these. But what would happen if we cleared our schedule? For a day, an hour? And just did nothing? Caught up with a friend over coffee, went to lunch with a sibling, read the book you've been meaning to read for three years now, sent that email to your parents you meant to send a week ago?

I feel like if we did this, life would become more meaningful.

“Are you bored with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours” -Dale Carnegie

I know i discuss my life plans a lot. I like reflecting upon the passions that God has graced me with, and how i can put them to use for his glory. And i thank Him everyday for the people he has placed into my life, to help me, to guide me, to drag me, to walk with me.
